Product Description
Working principle:
The multi-media filter operates on the principle of depth filtration and graded particle bedding. It utilizes a layered bed of filtration media (typically anthracite, sand, and garnet) arranged in order of decreasing pore size and increasing density from top to bottom. During service, water flows downward through this bed, where suspended solids are progressively trapped within different layers based on particle size. When the pressure drop across the bed exceeds a set limit, the system initiates an automated backwash cycle, where upward flow of water fluidizes and expands the media bed, scrubbing trapped contaminants loose and carrying them to drain, thus restoring the filter's capacity.
