Dow FILMTECTM membrane Composite structure Dow membrane is a composite structure, it is composed of three layers:
1.Polyester material reinforced non-woven fabric, about 120*8*6M thick;
2.Polysulfone material porous intermediate support layer, about 40*8*6M thick;
3.The polyamide material is a thin separation layer, about 0.2*8*6M thick.Each layer is individually optimized for design and fabrication according to its functional requirements.
4.The main structural strength of the composite film is provided by the non-woven fabric, which has a hard, smooth surface without loose fibers.
5.The reason for designing the porous intermediate support structure is that when the thin separation layer is directly compounded on the non-woven fabric, the surface is too irregular and the pores are too large, so it is necessary to pre-coat the non-woven fabric with a high layer of permeable microporous polysulfone as the support layer, and its pore size is about 150 anglae.
6.The thin separation layer is the functional layer that truly has the separation function in the reverse osmosis and nanofiltration process. Compared with any other brand products, Dow FILMTECTM diaphragm has high crosslinking degree, thicker functional separation layer, and more uniform thickness, and no pinholes.
Its high crosslinking properties determine its high physical strength and resistance to chemical biodegradation.

The general rule is that the higher the water flux of the membrane, the higher the salt permeability, and the salt permeability decreases with increase of the following factors:
1. Degree of dissociation: Weak acids, such as lactic acid, have a higher degree of dissociation at high, so the removal rate is also higher.
2. Ionic charge: The higher the ionic charge, the higher the removal rate, and divalent ions a higher removal rate than monovalent ions.
3. Molecular weight: The higher the molecular weight, the higher the removal rate.
4. Non-p: The lower the polarity, the higher the removal rate.
